Trowell Junction
13th August 2007

At Trowell junction just south of Ilkeston the route to Nottingham via Wollaton leaves the main Erewash valley line. Until June 2007 there was a complex arrangement of double slips and diamond crossings here, since replaced by a simpler layout of ladder crossings. Most passenger trains leave the Erewash at this point to call at Nottingham with the freights continuing south to Toton and beyond.

This is one location that is actually better these days!
